Inclusion & Accessibility Policy

Last Updated: 04/12/25

Britain’s Got Startups is committed to creating an inclusive, accessible, and welcoming environment for all applicants, participants, staff, partners, and attendees. We value diversity in all its forms and strive to ensure that our programmes, events, and processes are free from discrimination, harassment, or bias.

1. Our Commitment

We are committed to:

  • Providing equal opportunities regardless of age, race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion or belief, disability, socio-economic background, or any other characteristic protected by law.

  • Creating an accessible environment for all participants, including online and in-person events.

  • Ensuring that all processes, from application to participation, are fair, transparent, and inclusive.

2. Accessibility

We aim to make our events and application processes accessible to everyone. This includes:

  • Providing accessible online platforms and materials.

  • Offering reasonable adjustments for in-person and virtual events, such as mobility access, dietary requirements, and communication support (e.g., live captions or sign language interpretation).

  • Ensuring that all application materials and event communications are clear and inclusive.

If you require an adjustment to participate fully, please contact us at hello@britainsgotstartups.co.uk and we will work with you to provide reasonable accommodations.

3. Anti-Discrimination & Harassment

Britain’s Got Startups does not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or exclusionary behaviour:

  • Any form of inappropriate conduct, including bullying, offensive language, or unfair treatment, is not permitted.

  • Judging and selection processes are based solely on merit, creativity, and business potential.

  • Reports of discrimination or harassment will be taken seriously, investigated promptly, and addressed in line with our policies.

4. Inclusive Participation

We encourage applicants and participants from diverse backgrounds to engage with our programmes. This includes:

  • Providing guidance and support for first-time applicants or underrepresented founders.

  • Reviewing event practices to ensure fairness and equal opportunity.

  • Collaborating with partners who share our commitment to diversity and inclusion.

5. Continuous Improvement

We review our inclusion and accessibility practices regularly to ensure they reflect best practices and participant feedback. We welcome suggestions to improve accessibility and inclusivity and encourage participants to share their experiences.

6. Reporting & Support

If you experience or witness discrimination, harassment, or accessibility barriers during any part of the Britain’s Got Startups process, please contact us at hello@britainsgotstartups.co.uk. All reports will be treated confidentially, investigated promptly, and addressed fairly.
